LF – Several large loops under the arc, but not far enough for his bird - then he went out further right and located his bird.

LR – Great line out - made 1 loop left, turned right and straight to the bird!

RF – Lined out through the water, across the island, then came ashore left and hunted up the hill left, but need to be handled to this bird.

RR – Took the land on the right out and was also handled to this bird.

This test took Buddy about 15 minutes to complete ...

LF – Straight to it!

LR – Came in behind the blind - out to the cover and weeds for his bird.

RF – Ran the bank - got deep - came up behind the flyer and got it!

RR – Ran the same line down the right side - shouldered it on the left - came out at the blind - a quick turn on the shore and then out to the bird across the water.

First Test Dog up for the 9th Series was Buddy with handler John Robinson

Buddy and John came to the line at 11:18 am.

F –  His line took him under the arc for a few loops in the area and then to the bird.

MR – He went out just past the bird, quickly turned around to the bird.

LR – Drove long right and was handled to the bird.

RR – Had a hunt left and right and deep, then got to his bird.

This test took Buddy 10 minutes to complete

Next test dog to the line was Milli with handler Seth Kelly .... Milli came to the line at 11:30 am

F – Excellent Line to the bird.

LR – Out to the blind - worked in and down the hill to her bird.

MR – Out to the blind and hunted high and wide right, then down to the bird.

RR – Out close to the fall area and heading right and away from the bird - was handled back to the bird (guns came out to help)

This test took Milli 9 minutes to complete

1 to cast of the last point and this carried her to the bird

Buddy and John came to the line at 6:38 am.

1 whistle before the water

this carried him into the water

1 whistle crossing the spit

2 in the water

2 to get to the brown grass

2 more to the next point

2 more in the 2nd water

and this line carried her to the bird.

This test is taking dogs approximately 5 - 5.5 minutes to complete.

Buddy and John came to the line at 6:36 am.

F – 3 loops in the area, initial line was under the arc - he got it!

MR – Line was very far left, dog was helped to the bird, guns came out

Island – Line was just right of the island and was handled to this bird

This test took Buddy 11 minutes to complete

Next test dog to the line was Milli with handler Seth Kelly .... Milli came to the line at 6:49 am

Flyer – Out into heavy cover, quick hunt and she got her bird

Island – Out to the first point to where the guns stood, hunted the area under the arc thoroughly, then out to the island and her bird.

MR – Across the 1st island, right of the tulles, swam and went over the long point, out to the holding blind and left to the bird.

This test took Milli 10 minutes to complete 

NOTE:  The test order was changed to Island first, Middle Retired second and Flyer last.

Good Morning! Today is the 2nd day here at the 5th Series where we will resume this test and move on to the 6th. The weather this morning is about 41 degrees with a very subtle variable wind and clear skies. It's shaping up to be a beautiful day! Good Luck Everyone!

RF – Deep of the bird, handled back to the area - pop - handle to the bird, this was a difficult handle and the gunners came out to help.

LF (Left Flyer) – One small loop at the blind and she got it.

LR (Left Retired) – Straight to the bird!

RR (Right Retired) – Hunted left and right, had a medium-long hunt, but she got her bird

RF (Right Flyer) – Milli went out long and was called back

This test took Milli about 9 minutes to complete

LF (Left Flyer) – Hunted the area and got his pheasant flyer

LR (Left Retired) – Straight to it!

RR (Right Retired) – A few large loops and then he was to the bird.

RF (Right Flyer) – Buddy's line was taking him too far right, popped and was handled left with several whistles to get to his bird.

This test also took Buddy about 9 minutes to complete

The single test dog to the line this morning was Milli with handler Seth Kelly .... 

Milli came to the line at 6:37 am

Ret. Island – She started a hunt short of the bird, and got a quick handle to get on correct line and get her bird.

Ret. Bridge – Out to the point and hunted on the right, then moved across the channel to the left point of the land and got her bird.

F – Wide right line going out, back-sided the guns and hunted the wrong side, then when deep before working it out and getting her bird.

Buddy and John came to the line at 6:34 am and had a no bird. They came back to the line at 6:37am.

F – Out across the field, through the 1st ditch across the field left of the fall area and worked deeper and he got it

Ret. Bridge – Into the near end of the channel, he cut the corner and went up hill for a loop right and got his bird.

Ret. Island – Across the field into the right corner of the water, up and out to the fence, and was handled back to the bird.

This test took Buddy 7 mins and 57 seconds to complete

Next test dog to the line was Milli with handler Seth Kelly .... Milli came to the line at 6:45 am

F – Out to the fall area, 1 loop and she scooped it up.

Ret. Bridge – Out to the blind, and then into the pond deep of the guns, turned left and swam to the bird.

Ret. Island – Strait across the field, into the pond, across the island and back in the pond, she drove up the far hill out of sight, and was handled back to the left side of the pond, she then swam back to the island and got it.

This test took Milli 8 mins and 18 seconds to complete

F – Out into the fall area and a very tight hunt, staying in the area until she found it!

LR – Straight tot he holding blind, turned right and directly to her bird.

B – Excellent initial line, 3 whistles kept her on a good line and to her bird.

Next up was Buddy and John Robinson ... Buddy came to the line at 6:47 am


F – Straight to the fall area, he worked out to the right for his bird. Excellent tight hunt.


LR – Out to the area left of the flyer guns, a few quick turns, and he had to be handled out to the long bird. He worked the area in front of the blind and then he got his bird.


B – Initial line was very nice, a few whistles to the bush, then on to his bird.
