Callbacks to the 8th Series

35 dogs were called back: 1, 2, 6, 12, 27, 31, 34, 38, 41, 42, 45, 52, 53, 55, 57, 58, 62, 71, 76, 77, 78, 81, 82, 83, 86, 87, 88, 95, 98, 101, 105, 108, 111, 112 and 113.

15 dogs dropped: 17, 18, 20, 28, 36, 37, 39, 46, 49, 56, 65, 70, 93, 96, 99

Dog #1 will start the 8th series.

Test Dogs will start running at 6:30am. First running dog will be at 7:00am

The 8th series will be a Water Blind with a Dry Pop at Test Site 4 Valhalla. 
Directions: The same as they were for today at Series 7 ... do not take Round Butte Rd., Turn Right on Robinson. Blue House and go 1 mile to Cornelius. Look for Signs.

7th Series – Water Triple with an Honor

50 Dogs Were Called Back and ran this Series

Test Dogs started out the Series this morning at 6:36 am, beginning with "Buddy" and then "Milli" giving the dog teams a look at what this Water Triple would have in store for them today! 

The first running dog for this test was #101 FC-AFC SEASIDE'S SMARTY JONES, "Smarty," with handler Derek Smith at 7:09 am this morning.


The weather at the start of the series was in the mid 30’s with clear skies for the most part and almost no wind, as the day progressed the temps reached up to nearly 70.

Here is how things turned out for the 5th Series…

Our last running dog for this series was dog #
99 FC-AFC JIMAVICHE'S HOLLANDAISE JAMMER, “Jammer” with Handler Bobby Lee. They completed the test this afternoon at 4:05 pm.


There were 50 dogs sent from the line in this series, taking a total of about 8 hours and 56 minutes, which averages out to be just over 10.5 minutes per dog. 

The 7th Series is officially in the books and we will be moving on to the 8th Tomorrow!

Jammer and Bobby came to the line at 3:54 pm

F – Straight to the bird.

Island – Hunting deep and right, was handled back to the bird.

MR –  Line was right and deep but he came back in for his bird.

98. FC-AFC DRAKE’S BAY IZZY, “Izzy,” LF, Rick Wilke

Izzy and Rick came to the line at 3:44 pm

F – Nice Job!

Island – Into the channel, straight to the island, turned left just before he got there and got out on the left bank, hunted the holding blind and that area - then moved deep and then came back in, back to the island and she got her bird!

MR – Good line into the pond over both island and peninsula - out of the right corner of the pond, hunted deep and then short and then she got her bird!

Pick-up 96. FC-AFC SEASIDES SMOKIN JOE, “Frazier,” LM, Monte French

Frazier and Monte came to the line at 3:31 pm

F – Straight to the fall area and quickly got his bird.

Island – Into the pond through the side channel, ran to where the guns stood and jumped in the water and straight to his bird.

MR – Wide left going into the pond, ran very deep and away from the bird, had to handle back ... judges asked the gunners to help. Dog picked up.

95. FC-AFC RIMFIRES ONCE INNA BLUE MOON, “Blue,” LM, Mike Crow

Blue and Mike came to the line at 3:23 pm

F – Straight to the bird

Island – Blue took the water to the left shore, 1 loop and over to the island and his bird.

MR – Great line out and after 1 small turn he had his bird.

Pick-up 93. HARDCORE TROUBADOR, “Earl,” LM, John Russell

Earl and John came to the line at 3:15 pm

F – One loop and then right to his bird.

Island – Right and deep, hunting - dog handled back to the bird

MR – Was not sent for the middle retired bird. Pick Up.

Raymond and Bert came to the line at 3:05 pm

F – Nice job!

Island – Into the water, to the peninsula, hunted wide right, back across the to the island and his bird.

MR – Out to the pond, over the island, back in the pond to the peninsula and up and out deep right, behind the blind and then over to the bird.

87. FC-AFC BLACKWATER DEXTER, “Dexter,” LM, Dale Willard

Dexter and Dale came to the line at 2:55 pm

F – Perfect!

Island – Out into the pond, over the peninsula and hunted wide right - moved left to the island and then his bird.

MR – Out to the pond, over the island, back in the pond, to the peninsula, up to the blind and worked his way to the bird.

86. FC-AFC CREEK ROBBERS SANTA ANA WINDS, “Breeze,” LF, Andy Kahn

Breeze and Andy came to the line at 2:45 pm

F – Quick retrieve of this bird.

Island – Line was wide right and deep, but quickly turned back to the island and her bird.

MR – Wide right and a bit deep, but immediately looped over a couple loops left, back looping right again and then over to the bird.

83. AFC-CFC-CAFC DUCKWATERS WALTZ ACROSS TEXAS MH, “Dancer,” LF, Chris Brandl

Dancer and Chris came to the line at 2:34 pm

F – In under the arc and right turn to the bird.

Island – Line was wide right, took one loop and then went deep and right and came back to the island and the bird.

MR – Went out under the arc, then right and slightly deep of the blind then over to her bird.

82. FC-AFC BAYOU TECHE EXPRESS, “Ryan,” LF, Lauren Hays

Ryan and Lauren came to the line at 2:26 pm

F – Direct to her flyer!

Island – Into the pond, over peninsula on the right, back to the tip of the island - launched back into the pond and to the shore with the guns for a quick loop, then back to the island for her bird.

MR – Pond, island, pond, peninsula, pond and then deep right of the blind, back left to her bird.

81. FC-AFC BOO’S STRAIGHT LINE IS GOOD IDEA, “Torq,” LM, Joel Earls

Torq and Joel came to the line at 2:16 pm

F – Very nice line to his bird.

Island – Across the field into the pond on a right angle - adjusted and headed straight for the island and his bird.

MR – Across the field, over the island, the water and the peninsula, back into water, out and up the hill and his bird!

McQueen and Linda came back to the line at 2:12 pm

F – Broke on the Flyer. Dog was picked up.

Gator and Cynthia came to the line at 2:04 pm

F – Straight to the blind

Island – Swam near the island, then went left up on the land for a couple loops, then back into the water and to the island and his bird.

MR –  Good line under the arc and curved around to get his bird.

Drake and Breck came back to the line at 1:54 pm

F – Very Nice!

Island – Into the pond - angled right - up onto the peninsula, worked to the island and got his bird.

MR – Into the pond, over the island and into the pond again, over the peninsula, in to the pond - out and went a little deep of the blind and then over to his bird.

Snookie and Delma came to the line at 1:45 pm

F – Perfect!

Island – Into the channel finger of the pond, ran down to the blind and hunted that area, came back to the pond and over to the island and her bird.

MR – Into the pond, left of the island, over the peninsula and into the pond - out and then deep and she located her bird!

F – Straight to the bird

Island – Straight through the water and to his bird.

MR – Line went out wide right and he took a couple loops deep and right, turned left with 1 more loops and he got his bird.

Island – Down the field, into the pond, out on the right hand peninsula and then back in to the water - out to the island and her bird.

MR – Land, pond, island, pond - angled back left to the point, back in the pond and right to the bird! Beautiful!

Blitz and James came to the line ...

F – Smack!

Island – Into the narrow channel, down the shoreline to where the throwers stood, hunted the area, then moved to the island and he got his bird.

MR – Into the pond, over to the island, took a hard right to get out in the ponds corner, up to the 3 trees, back down but returned with no bird. Do is Picked up.

 McQueen and Linda came to the line and had a no bird on the flyer, they will be back after 6 running dogs...

Ripley and Alex came to the line at 12:54 pm

F – Straight to the bird!

Island – Straight through the water and up onto the island and then straight to the bird!

MR – Line took him wide left in the water, but curved in to the fall area. 1 loop right and left and then back to the bird.

Drake and Breck came to the line at 12:51 pm and had a no bird, they will be back after 6 running dogs.

Luke and Bert came to the line at 12:40 pm

F – Straight to the bird

Island – Line was wide right but turned left and went straight to the bird.

MR – In the water heading right, came ashore wide right and went deep - then he turned left and went all the way towards the bird, a little past it - and turned right and he got his bird.

56. FC-AFC WAGZU’S SUNSUITE STANDING OVATION MH, “Bravo,” GM, Debbie Tandoc

Bravo and Debbie came to the line at 12:26 pm

F – Came in just left, slowed down and moved right and he scooped up his bird.

Island – Down the left side of the field, across the canal on the far left, out and around the blind, hunted where the guns stood, hunted wide left and deep and then into the pond, over to the island and his bird.

MR – Wide left going out, hunted wide left of the fall, back to the blind and deep right and then back to his bird. Got it!

55. DOT’S BABY SUGAR RAY, “Ray,” LM, Mark Burke

Ray and Mark came to the line at 12:15 pm

F – Right of the dead tree - hooked left into the field and missed it - made a large circle to the left and hunted his way back to the bird.

Island – Out wide right, worked to the island and then his bird.

MR – Land, pond, island and back to the pond - angled right on the peninsula - out the right corner of the pond and made a deep loop on the blind with an extra turn deep, then came in to the fall area and located his bird.

53. FC-AFC WOOD RIVER’S PERFECT PASS, “Lonzo,” LM, Bill Fruehling

Lonzo and Bill came to the line at 12:06 pm

F – Quick retrieve on this bird.

Island – Great line to the island and the bird.

MR – His line out was to the right of the blind, then he turned left and went straight to the bird.

52. FC-AFC J & C’s ANOTHER ROUND IN THE CHAMBER, “Bullet,” LM, Joseph Couey

Bullet and Joseph came to the line at 11:59 am

F – Line out was to the right side, he made 1 loop and went over to the fall area and got his bird.

Island – Great line to the island and straight to the bird.

MR – Good line to the bird, came in a little left, went a little farther and then back to the bird.

49. HOT LIPS HOULIHAN QA2, “Houli,” LF, Delana Potter-Meiers

Houli and Delana came to the line at 11:49 am

F – Pinned it!

Island – Very short throw out across the small channel, ran to the area with the blind, hunted and the went into the pond and over to the bird.

MR –  Over to the small island, swam to the peninsula, over into the back water, stayed in front of the guns, 1 big loop under the arc and then out to the fall area and her bird.

46. AFC CACHE LA POUDRE J.J. JOHNSTON, “J.J.,” LM, John Goettl

JJ and John came to the line at 11:29 pm

F – Area hunt in the fall area and he got it

Island – Into the channel, went to the far side of the pond for a hunt, back into the pond and swam back to the island for his bird.

MR – Crossed the 1st piece of water wide left, got a good right angle across the peninsula and he got it!

45. FC-AFC HOCKLEY CREEK’S SWITCH HITTER, “Mickey” LM, Robby Bickley

Robby and Mickey came to the line at 11:19 am

F – Spot on! Straight to the bird.  

Island – Out right of bird, hunted peninsula deep right. Expanded his hunt and moved left back into the water, then island and bird

MR – Over island then peninsula. Angled right, came in behind blind. Established hunt deep, worked up to fall area and his bird.

Jim and Izzy came back to the line at 11:09 am

F – To the area and got the bird.

Island – Line was wide right, took one loop on land, then got in the water and straight to the island and bird.

MR – Line was wide left but veered right until out of the water. Went slightly past the holding blind, then a couple loops behind and slightly deep. Then headed left, one loop and to the bird.

David and Cole came to the line at 10:57 am

F – Straight to the bird

Island – Line way to the right of the island. Hunted that land briefly before going left to the island and the bird.

MR – perfect line to under the MC, went a little past and turned left and to the bird.

F – Out and straight to his bird

Island – Out behind cover, onto island and quickly got to his bird.

MR – Huge splash into pond, through tulles over next point. Into back piece of water, out in front of the blind, deep back to fall area and hunted his bird

Malcolm and Poncho came to the line at 10:38 am

F – One full turn, deep back to his bird

Island – Down field, into pond, up onto peninsula and hunted deep back to blind for hunt then out to island and bird

MR – Headed out deep right away from his bird. Handled back to bird.

38. FC-AFC KIRKWOOD’S ACE OF A HIGHER GRADE, “Deacon,” LM, Mark Medford

Mark and Deacon came to the line at 10:22 am

F – Straight to the fall area, two short and quick loops to the bird.

Island – Initial line left through the water and up on land. A loop between blind and through area, one short loop left of the blind, then over to the water and straight to the bird.  

MR – Good line to the fall area, one tight figure 8 at the bird and got it.

Anne and King came to the line at 10:13 am

F – Started right of large tree. Hunted deep right then out of area. Deep left of guns, then behind guns. Very extended hunt.

F – Straight to fall area and the bird

Island – Slight curve in from the right to the bird.

MR – Line was slightly behind the blind. Turned left and straight to the bird.

F – Straight to the fall area and to her bird.

Island – Line was wide right - he turned left and went straight to the bird.

MR – Good line to the bird, took one loop under the arc and to his bird.

Dealer and Dale came to the line at 9:42 am

F – Good line tot he area, then hunted a few loops, then a couple loops deep behind the guns, then back and one loop right and he got his bird.

Island – Initial line was wide left onto land and a few loops in the area of blind, then over to the throw area, crossed the water to the island and the bird.

MR – Initial line was under the arc, then he hunted deep and wide for a short time, then back left and to the bird.

Molly and Tracy came to the line at 9:38 am and got a no bird, they will be back after 6 running dogs.

Dozer and Alvin came to the line at 9:18 am

F – Came in just left of the fall, a quick turn put him right on his bird.

Island – Swam the channel to the right side of the island, straight to his bird.

MR – Across the field, into the pond - over the right end of the island, swam to the point, over and then he was in-line with the bird - came in under the arc and straight to his bird.

Pick-up 20. FC-AFC SEASIDE’S CRADLE ROBBER - OMG QA2, “Crook,” LM, Mike Griffin

Crook and Mike came to the line at 9:08 am

F – Line was under the arc, a few small loops/turns and then a right turn to the bird.

Island – Arrived wide right and hunted deep in the field and went out of sight for a while in the grass, guns were asked to come out to help the dog. But the dog was picked up.


18. FC-AFC HIGH PEAK’S GOT CAFFEINE, “Buzz,” LM, Justin Aimone

Buzz and Justin came to the line at 8:58 am

F – Out to the fall area and a few short loops to the bird.

Island – Took a line wide right, one loop left and one loop right and then headed left and went right to the bird.

MR – Line was right of the blind, 2 loops deep right of the blind, then left and made a large loop, a couple more small loops behind and slightly deep of the blind, then straight over to the bird.

Pick-up 17. AFC SALTY PAWS WILLIE MAKE IT, “Willie,” LM, Loren Morehouse

Willie and Loren came to the line at 8:47 am

F – Straight to his bird.

Island – Across the field in to the pond, took a left piece of the land and ran down to where the gunners stood, established a good sized hunt in this area, crossed to the island and got his bird.

MR – Into the pond left of the island, swam over the point in-line with the fall area, but he ran very deep, Judges asked the gunners to help. Dog Picked up.

12. AFC COLONIAL’S WE WILL ROCK YOU, “Rocky,” LM, Michael Coutu

Rocky and Michael came to the line at 8:37 am

F – Straight to the fall area and then his bird.

Island – Straight out across the field, over the peninsula and then to the island and got it!

MR – Over the island, swam to the island long point, angled right as he was going over the point, stayed in front of the blind, hunted deep and then back to the fall area and his bird.

6. FC-AFC SILVER STAR’S WATCH’EM LIKE A HAWK, “Hawk,” LM, Scott Leonescu

Hawk and Scott came to the line at 8:29 am

F – Straight to the bird.

Island – Line was wide right and he made a large loop deep and right, then the dog was out of sight until he reappeared with his bird.

MR – Straight to the bird.

2. FC-AFC YOURS TRULY INDIGO, “Tru,” LF, Mark Medford

Tru and Mark came to the line at 8:19 am

F – Straight to the bird

Island – Straight to the island but ran across and swam to land, one loop on land and then back to the island and straight to the bird.

MR – Straight line through the cover and water and straight to the bird.

Dylan and Samantha came to the line at 7:59 am

F – Tight hunt in the fall area, and he quickly got his bird.

Island – Into the pond, veered right over the right hand point, swam left to the island and quickly got his bird.

MR – Into the pond over the island, over the right side of the point and into the area behind the blind for a big turn and then he moved to the fall area and his bird.

112. FC-AFC WIGHT’S THE DARK SIDE, “Vader,” LM, Tracy Wight

Vader and Tracy came to the line at 7:50 am

F – Into the fall area and then a couple tight turns and he located his bird.

Island – Into the pond, swam the channel straight to the island, hunted the heavy cover right to left but stayed on the island until he located his bird.

MR – Into the pond over the 1st island on the right side over the point at the base, out into the field behind the guns, then deep behind the guns - worked to the fall area and then to his bird.

111. AFC BAYOU TECHE PERFECT GAME, “Koufaxx,” LM, Lauren Hays

Koufaxx and Lauren came to the line at 7:41 am

F – Straight to the fall area and 1 loop to get the bird.

Island – Straight to the island and the bird.

MR – Line out was under the arc, 1 loop right and 1 loop left to scoop up his bird.

108. FC-AFC TALL OAKS RAGS TO RUFUS, “Rufus,” LM, Phil Heye

Rufus and Phil came to the line at 7:29 am

F – Straight tot he area, one loop right and back to the bird.

Island – Straight to the island and the bird.

MR – Line was just behind the blind, one loop right and straight back left.

105. BLUE OYSTER RUSH. QA2 MH, “Rush,” LM, Pamela King

Rush and Pam came to the line at 7:19 am

F – Straight to his bird!

Island – Out toward the area between MR and Island, over the 1st point deep right - came up on the island and missed it - swam to where the guns stood and then back to the island and his bird.

MR – Across the field over the 1st island, swam to the point over it, and through the tulles to the blind and straight left to his bird.

Island – Into the channel hugging the left side out where the guns stood, back to the blind for a few turns, deep then over to the island and her bird.

MR – Across the 1st island, over the long point through the right side of the tulles and out at the blind, a brief hunt and she got it.

7th Series Test Dogs

First Test Dog up this morning was Buddy with handler John Robinson
Buddy and John came to the line at 6:36 am.

F – 3 loops in the area, initial line was under the arc - he got it!

MR – Line was very far left, dog was helped to the bird, guns came out

Island – Line was just right of the island and was handled to this bird

This test took Buddy 11 minutes to complete 



FC-AFC Glenhoma’s Soggy Bottoms Mildred, “Milli” LF
Owners: The Davis Family, Owasso, OK
Handler: Seth Kelly


Next test dog to the line was Milli with handler Seth Kelly .... Milli came to the line at 6:49 am

Flyer – Out into heavy cover, quick hunt and she got her bird

Island – Out to the first point to where the guns stood, hunted the area under the arc thoroughly, then out to the island and her bird.

MR – Across the 1st island, right of the tulles, swam and went over the long point, out to the holding blind and left to the bird.

This test took Milli 10 minutes to complete 




NOTE:  The test order was changed to Island first, Middle Retired second and Flyer last.



7th Series

Series 7 – Water Triple with an Honor

The mat faces southwest. At the the start of this test, it is clear skies and there is little to no wind. 

(Island for Island Bird) Bird # 1 is a drake mallard approximately 196 yards from the mat. The bird is thrown to the right onto an island. The throwers retire as soon as the dog is sent. The line to this bird requires the dog to swim between 2 points on the way to the island. 

(MR for Middle Retired) Bird # 2 is hen mallard approximately 186 yards from the mat. The bird is thrown to the left, and the throwers retire as soon as the dog is sent. The line to this bird requires the dog to cross 2 islands of tulles and a long point. 

(F for Flyer) Bird # 3 is a drake mallard flyer, approximately 145 yards from the line. It is shot to the right and the flyer does not take any water. 

In addition, after all three birds have been retrieved, there is an Honor to the left of the working dog.

This test is taking dogs approximately 9.5 - 10 minutes to complete.

Good Morning! 7th Series

 Good Morning Everyone! This morning we are kicking off the 7th Series of the NARC event. The test dogs are running now and we will begin at 7:00 am. The morning has been cool with sunny skies and temps around 35 degrees, with an expected high around 70. We will update with any new conditions as the day goes on.
