10th Series – Water Quad

18 Dogs Were Called Back to run this Series

After the test was set up, Test Dogs began the Series this morning at 8:07 am, beginning with "Milli" and then "Buddy" giving the dog teams a good look at this large Water Quad for their 10th Series.

The first running dog for this test was #87 FC-AFC BLACKWATER DEXTER, “Dexter,” with handler Dale Willard at 8:55 am.

The weather this afternoon had temps reaching into the mid 70's with partly cloudy skies and light winds at around 5 mph.

Here is how things turned out for the 10th Series…

Our last running dog for this series was a rerun for dog #77 FC-AFC PINETREE'S PARTY GIRL, “Snookie” with Handler Delma Hazzard. They completed the test this afternoon at 2:14 pm.

There were 18 dogs sent from the line in this series, taking 5 hours and 19 minutes, which averages out to be about 17.5 minutes per dog. 

The 10th Series is officially in the books ... and we will find out who the Winner of this year's National Amateur is very soon!

10th series – Water Quad

The mat is facing north on top of a hill overlooking the pond. 

Bird # 1 (RR - Right Retired) is a Drake Mallard, thrown to the left across a channel approximately 256 yards from the line. 

Bird # 2 - (RF - Right Flyer) is a Drake Mallard, shot to the right approximately 218 yards from the mat. The line to this bird takes the dogs through a cattail pond. 

Bird # 3 - (LR - Left Retired) is a Hen Mallard thrown downhill to the water’s edge to the right, approximately 241 yards from the mat. 

Bird # 4 - (LF - Left Flyer) is a Rooster Pheasant, shot to the right approximately 134 yards from the mat.

This test is taking the dogs on average about 14-16 minutes to complete.

Good Morning!

Good Morning! Today is the final day of the National Amateur and we are here at the 10th Series! In a few short hours we will be finding out who will become the National Amateur Field Champion of 2023. Excitement is definitely in the air!! (Note: We have some interesting stats coming up in the next blog post on the dogs that have been called back to this series, so be sure to watch for that!)

This morning we will have a parade of 10th Series contestants which will begin at 7:45 am (MT). And at the conclusion of the parade, test dogs will be ready at the line and begin running at 8:00 am. After both test dogs finish, the first running dog (#87) will begin the series!

This morning is starting out at about 50 degrees currently, with highs this afternoon heading into the mid 70's. The skies are mostly cloudy and there is almost no wind or breeze. We will update any conditions as they happen.

We will be bringing you all of the action from the 10th Series as soon as it begins! All of our well wishes and best of luck goes out to all of the 10th Series competitor teams today! You have all worked very hard to be here. Congratulations!
