10th Series – Water Quad

18 Dogs Were Called Back to run this Series

After the test was set up, Test Dogs began the Series this morning at 8:07 am, beginning with "Milli" and then "Buddy" giving the dog teams a good look at this large Water Quad for their 10th Series.

The first running dog for this test was #87 FC-AFC BLACKWATER DEXTER, “Dexter,” with handler Dale Willard at 8:55 am.


The weather this afternoon had temps reaching into the mid 70's with partly cloudy skies and light winds at around 5 mph.

Here is how things turned out for the 10th Series…
No-Bird / Re-Run (1): 77
Handles (8): 1 – 2 – 27 – 34 – 38 – 76 – 78 – 101
Double Handles (1): 31

Our last running dog for this series was a rerun for dog #77 FC-AFC PINETREE'S PARTY GIRL, “Snookie” with Handler Delma Hazzard. They completed the test this afternoon at 2:14 pm.


There were 18 dogs sent from the line in this series, taking 5 hours and 19 minutes, which averages out to be about 17.5 minutes per dog. 

The 10th Series is officially in the books ... and we will find out who the Winner of this year's National Amateur is very soon!

9th Series – Land Quad

26 Dogs Were Called Back to run this Series

After the test was set up, Test Dogs began the Series this afternoon at 11:18 am, beginning with "Buddy" and then "Milli" giving the dog teams a look at this large Land Quad test.

The first running dog for this test was #52 FC-AFC J & C's ANOTHER ROUND IN THE CHAMBER, "Bullet," with handler Joseph Couey at 11:52 am.


The weather this afternoon had temps in the mid 70's with partly cloudy skies and light winds at around 6 mph.

This was a Pretty Smooth Series!

Our last running dog for this series was dog #
38 FC-AFC KIRKWOOD'S ACE OF A HIGHER GRADE, “Deacon” with Handler Mark Medford. They completed the test this afternoon at 3:53 pm.


There were 26 dogs sent from the line in this series, taking almost exactly 4 hours, which averages out to be just under 9.5 minutes per dog. 

The 9th Series is officially in the books ... on to the 10th!!!

8th Series – Water Blind with a Dry Pop

35 Dogs Started this Series

Test Dogs started out the Series at 6:32 am, beginning with "Milli" and then "Buddy" giving the competitors a first look at this quick moving Water blind to decide how they will handle it. (pun intended!)

The first running dog for this test was #1 NAFC-FC HOLLAND CLIFFS BLADE A FINE LINE, “Dozer,” with handler Alvin Hatcher at 7:00 am.


The weather at the start of the series was 45 degrees with mostly sunny skies and little to no breeze.

Since this was a blind, there aren't any stats to report

Our last running dog for this series was dog #113 AFC HIGH PEAK'S TANGLED UP IN BLUE, “Dylan,” with handler Samantha Thompson. They completed the test this morning at 9:56 am.

There were 35 dogs sent from the line in this series, taking a total of about 2 hours and 56 minutes to complete, which averages out to be about 5 minutes per dog. 

And just like that ... Test 8 is officially in the books!

7th Series – Water Triple with an Honor

50 Dogs Were Called Back and ran this Series

Test Dogs started out the Series this morning at 6:36 am, beginning with "Buddy" and then "Milli" giving the dog teams a look at what this Water Triple would have in store for them today! 

The first running dog for this test was #101 FC-AFC SEASIDE'S SMARTY JONES, "Smarty," with handler Derek Smith at 7:09 am this morning.


The weather at the start of the series was in the mid 30’s with clear skies for the most part and almost no wind, as the day progressed the temps reached up to nearly 70.

Here is how things turned out for the 5th Series…

Our last running dog for this series was dog #
99 FC-AFC JIMAVICHE'S HOLLANDAISE JAMMER, “Jammer” with Handler Bobby Lee. They completed the test this afternoon at 4:05 pm.


There were 50 dogs sent from the line in this series, taking a total of about 8 hours and 56 minutes, which averages out to be just over 10.5 minutes per dog. 

The 7th Series is officially in the books and we will be moving on to the 8th Tomorrow!

6th Series – Land Blind

52 Dogs Started this Series

Test Dogs started out the Series at 12:56 pm, beginning with "Milli" and then "Buddy" giving the competitors a look at this fast moving Land blind to see what challenges they might run into.

The first running dog for this test was #70 FC QUACKADDICT’S HEAVY HITTER, “Blitz,” with handler James Street at 1:15 pm.


The weather at the start of the series was 65 degrees with mostly clear skies and a very light variable wind.

Here is how things turned out for the 6th Series…
Pick-Ups (1): 5

Our last running dog for this series was dog #65 DC AFC FIREWEED’S THE KING OF COOL, “McQueen,” with handler Linda Harger. They completed the test Wednesday afternoon at 3:55 pm.

There were 52 dogs sent from the line in this series, taking a total of about 2 hours and 40 minutes to complete, which averages out to be about 3 minutes per dog.

5th Series Recap

 Tues. - Wed., June 20-21, 2023

5th Series – Land Quad

82 Dogs Were Called Back to this Series - 81 Started

Test Dogs started out the Series on Sunday at 6:33 am, beginning with "Milli" and then "Buddy" giving the competitors a look at this large land quad! (Wednesday morning a single test dog ran to show if there were any conditions changed)

The first running dog for this test was #45 FC-AFC HOCKLEY CREEK’S SWITCH HITTER, “Mickey” with handler Robby Bickley at 7:10 am Tuesday morning.


The weather at the start of the series was in the low 40’s with partly cloudy skies for the most part and only a light wind.

Our last running dog for this series was dog #
39 FC-AFC BD NORTH SHORE’S INSTANT RAIN GEAR QA2, “Poncho” with Handler Malcolm Haith (rerun). They completed the test Wednesday morning at 11:17 am.


There were 81 dogs sent from the line in this series, taking a total of about 15 hours and 25 minutes, which averages out to be just over 11 minutes per dog. 

The 5th Series is officially in the books ... On to the 6th!

On the 1st day of the 5th Series we had:

58 dogs ran the test

15 Handles

1 Double Handle

7 Pick-ups

23 out of 58 dogs that ran the test either had a handle or were picked up

That equals out to 40% for the first day!

This is definitely a challenging test! Let's see how the rest of the series shakes out ...

4th Series – Water Blind

88 Dogs Started this Series

Test Dogs started out the Series at 11:30 am, beginning with "Buddy" and then "Milli" giving the competitors a look at this fast moving water blind.

The first running dog for this test was #22 FC-AFC TIPPECANOE’S COSMIC JOURNEY, “Trek,” with handler George Wamsley at 11:40 am.


The weather at the start of the series was in the upper 50’s with partly cloudy skies and a light variable wind.

Here is how things turned out for the 4th Series…
Pick-Ups (1): 64

Our last running dog for this series was dog #21 FC-AFC SEASIDE LULA BLUE, “Lula,” with handler Kathy Vignos. They completed the test and series 4 was in the books at 4:46 pm.


There were 88 dogs sent from the line in this series, taking a total of almost exactly 5 hours to complete, which averages out to be a little more than minutes per dog. 

Test 4 is in the books ... On to the 5th Series!

3rd Series – Land and Water Triple with an Honor

104 Dogs Started this Series

Test Dogs started out the Series on Sunday at 6:37 am, beginning with "Buddy" and then "Milli" giving the competitors a look at what challenges the 3rd Series has in store! (Monday morning a single test dog ran to show if there were any conditions changed)

The first running dog for this test was #116. FC TOP GUN OAKLEY’S INZAYNITY, “Zayne,” with handler John Haight at 7:11 am Sunday morning.


The weather at the start of the series was in the low 50’s with light rain and then partly sunny skies for most of the remainder and only a light wind.

1st & 2nd Series – Land Double and Land Blind

112 Dogs Started this Series

Test Dogs started out the day at 6:40 am, beginning with "Millie"  and then came "Buddy" giving the competitors a good idea of what they might expect for these first two series. 

Our first running dog #92 AFC COOLWATER’S THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN, “Wizard,” with handler Alex Washburn.

The weather today started in the low 50’s with light rain. We had some significant wind, rain and then partly cloudy conditions later day. 

Here is how things turned out for the 1st and 2nd Series…

Our last running dog for the day, and for Series 1 and 2 was dog #30 FC-AFC SMOKY MOUNTAIN’S MIDNIGHT RIDER, “Ike,” with handler Greg Seddon. 


112 dogs were sent from the line in this series, taking a total of about 11.5 hours, which averages out to be just about 6 minutes per dog.
